SP10 Questionnaire!

I did it! I joined the SP10 Secret Pal Exchange - and really look forward to spoiling my SP!

For the one who got me - here are the answers!

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

SOCK YARN! Right now - I'm loving the yummy multi-colored sock yarns out there - mostly superwash with a bit o' nylon thrown in there. I also enjoy the "nekkid" yarns so I can play with the dyes. I love cotton and silks to work with, also.

I'm not so big on scratchy wool and have been known to begrudingly work with acrylics - but usually only like it for baby things. Basically, I don't consider acrylics "good yarn."

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

Alas, I have no real organization here (much to my DH's chagrin!). I try to keep the Addi's in their sleeves, but otherwise, there's one of the old fashioned knitting baskets sitting next to my chair that the needles are just poked down into 'til I need them.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I've been knitting for almost exactly 2 years. I went to a class at a local shop with a group I belonged to and was immediately hooked. I joined a local knitting group and have learned so much from the ladies in this group. I would consider myself intermediate in my skills.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

I do have an Amazon Wish list.

5. What's your favorite scent?

I like most scents - except vanilla and rose. There are some new Bath & Body Works scents that are intriguing to me like the Japanese Cherry Blossom and Midnight Pomegranate.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Dark Dark Chocolate- the darker the better! Also love nuts of almost any sort - just not crazy about Walnuts or Brazil Nuts.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

I don't spin - figure others are much more gifted in that area and I'll just take the finished product, thank you! I do love to dye - it's becoming a passion!

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I like most music in very limited amounts - mostly jazz, blues and, yes, country. I've got an iPod full of music but usually listen to podcasts and Audio books.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?

I love all colors - especially if they have been mixed together well. I'm not opposed to solids - but love a great variegated or striping yarn.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I'm married to a wonderful man - March 17 is our 6 year anniversary - and we have a 14 year old cat named Barton and a 3 year old Schnug - 1/2 schnauzer 1/2 pug - named Sabine who thinks she rules the roost. DH and I are looking to adopt in the near future and are researching our options at this point.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

I love scarves - they aren't just for knitting! Hats, occasionally. Mittens and Ponchos, never.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

I love to knit scarves and socks - mostly socks right now.

13. What are you knitting right now?

Do you want the whole list??? HA! Right now, on the needles are a "My So Called Scarf," a pair of socks using some yarn that I dyed, a "Beads of Earth" scarf from "Scarf Style" and a bunny for my new Goddaughter.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

I love it!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

I love my Lantern Moon rosewood size 11's but usually I prefer either the shorter aluminum straights by Susan Bates - 10 inches or shorter - or metal circs with great cords. I love my addi turbos and have one set of 2 size 3 Knit Picks circs - and am itchin' to get some more of these knit picks needles in the US 1 and 2 sock sizes.

Absolutely hate dpns - except for doing i-cord or using them in a pinch. But socks were an "I'll never do those!" until I found a socks on 2 circs class!

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

I do not - but they are definitely on my list of things to save for!

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

My oldest UFO is probably about 6 months old - everything else, I've finished or frogged.

18. What is your favorite holiday?

Thanksgiving - love being around family!

19. Is there anything that you collect?

Does yarn count???

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

I want the new "Favorite Socks" book and can't wait for the "More Sensational Knitted Socks" to get on the shelves. I've never actually owned one of the Yarn Harlot books and they are on my list of things I'd like to add to the library.

I don't have any knitting magazine subscriptions but do buy some on occasion from the bookstore. Honestly, most just have very few patterns I'd actually do!

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

I'd like to hone my dyeing skills and knowledge. I love cables and keep trying to learn new kinds of cable patterns.

I'm interested in Magic Loop sock knitting - but am trying to master the socks on 2 circs methods first.

I've also never knit a hat - the old "I hate dpns" thing. BUT, I'm thinking I can just do the Hat on 2 circs method and figure it out.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Yep - I do consider myself a sock knitter. I wear a size 9 shoe and have "thick" calves (Isn't that a nice way to say fat? HA!) so I usually just knit myself ankle socks.

23. When is your birthday?

October 8
